They are two kinds of K&H Manufacturing Outdoor Cat House Models: one is heated and one is unheated. Both are very popular . Obviously the main difference is in the “heating” option, so I will review both in one review.

In my opinion, the outside shelter, whether it is a outdoor cat house or just temporary shelter, has to be a top quality and insulated. That way it will protect the cat from the rain and snow. Even the unheated version of this cat house will good enough to protect the cat temporary from cold

After carefully reasearching many types of kitty houses, this one is really good value for your buck! You can use it outdoors, but some where on the porch, where it could be protected from really bad weather and wind. Even if the manufacturer say it is outdoor cat house, this will not protect the cat from very bad weather and rain. If you need something more sturdy and more protection in rain and snow, check this cat house.
What you will get:
The heated outdoor cat house comes in three parts; the roof, sides of the house and the bed ( the Lectro-Soft)
The process of assembling is easy, you start with the roof, zip it to side walls and you insert the bed inside. Make sure the cord goes through the hole.
The material is “600 denier nylon with a vinyl backing” that makes it waterproof. The denier is a unit for the polyester. The weight of the whole house is 5lb . Dimmensions (22 x 18 x 17 inches) accomodate a big cat . The heatting pad uses only 20 Watts, which is very low…
The design of the house is clever, because the roof overhangs over 2 exits. This protects the inside from rain.
Where to Place the Cat House?
The outdoor cat house can be used outside with caution.You have to protect heating elements from water.The best place for this cat house would be garage or basement. It has to be close to electric outlet. Because it is not to heavy, it must be placed somewhere, where the wind would not blow it away. I am using extra velcro straps to hold it down and secured it to the deck railing. My cat loves it.
The only better solution would be a sturdy cat house, built from the wood or metal.
In conclusion: I like this product very much. It is a nice solution for my cat when cought outside in bad weather.
Can The Outdoor Cat House be used Indoors?
Absolutely. I have an older cat, and he loves this heated cat house and spends a lot of time napping there. You can use a pillow case to protect the bed fro dirt. It will be much easier to wash it as a bed.
The Rating:
The rating of this product is 4.5 stars, with 75% of 100 % satisfaction. And I agree. Most customers like it, but the main complain from the low rating was, that the outdoor cat house is NOT for outdoor use.

This dome like 26 x 25.3 x 18.5 inches big cat house is big enough to house more than one cat. It is built from rather sturdy structural foam insulation. It is from one site a light material( the dome’s weight is 14.5 lb), but from other side it protects from rain and cold. The “condo” comes with the floor carpet, which protects from cold floor.

It may be placed outside or in garage or the basement. It is sturdy enough to whistand the cold and rain. It has one entrance, which you may cover, or leave it uncovered. The inside is big enough to shelter two or more cats.
Can I use Heating Pad with The Petmate Kitty Condo?
Yes, you can use the heating pad. I am using heating pad with the timer. It works fine. Also, I made a front entrance cover, which my cats don’t mind. In winter time I use the heated pad .In sommer time I take it outand use thin carpet.
Rating:
On Amazon the rating is 4.2 stars, with 65% customers rating it wit 5 stars. And that is about right. I like the “cat condo”, but I think, it would be nice if it would be ventilated like the dogloo is.
Heated or Unheated Cat House ?
I prefer the heated version, but the unheated have almost the same use . Because I have multiple cats, the best solution was to buy the K&H Manufacturing Outdoor Kitty House and the Petmate Kitty Kat Condo. Depending on your need, in long run any heated outdoor cat house will pay off.
